This series is comprised of a diverse collection of personal and professional materials that reflect Nien Cheng’s life and career. Included are her personal records and appointment books, which document her daily activities before and after the publication of Life and Death in Shanghai.

Other notable items include a film script from Tomson Films Co., illustrating the initial stages of a film project about Cheng’s life. The series also contains correspondence,...
programs, and itineraries from her public lectures and appearances following the publication of her memoir. Additionally, it features Cheng’s handwritten notes and research materials, offering a behind-the-scenes look into the creation of her memoir and her preparation for subsequent lecture circuits.
