 File — Box: 1, Folder: 23

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

Andrew McKinney, a merchant of the tri-county area during the 19th century, owned a general store at Plain Grove in Lawrence County and a branch store at North Liberty, Pennsylvania. The majority of Series 1: McKinney Store Records includes business records, receipts, and various documents regarding Andrew McKinney's stores in the area. Series 2: Offutt and Son Store Records also contains business records, receipts, and various other documents regarding the Offutt and Son Store in North Liberty owned by Thomas Patterson (T. P.) Offutt, the son-in-law of Andrew McKinney. Series 3: Individual Records includes various receipts and correspondence from multiple sources. Included is a folder of WWII ration documents for Frank Settlemire, various receipts for merchant Thomas Hart, and correspondence, receipts, and other accounts for the family of Lewis Sankey. While a majority of this collection involves Mercer and Lawrence Counties, researchers might find value in the late 19th and early 20th century business accounts.
