Biographical / Historical
The Pennsylvania Center for Educational Education was established by an Executive Order of Governor Tom Ridge on December 20, 1996. In July 2008, Senate Bill no. 356 was unanimously passed by the Pennsylvania Legislature and signed into law as Act 71 of 2008 by Governor Edward Rendell, establishing PCEE in statute. The PCEE was an integral part of the environmental community, linking professionals and private citizens throughout Pennsylvania with the tools and information necessary to have environmental education make a difference in their lives and the well-being of the planet. Operating on Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania’s Main Street until 2012, the Center aimed to be a central hub for environmental information and resources, partnering with a wide variety of organizations to make environmental education relevant and accessible to the people of Pennsylvania.
