Biographical / Historical

Cheryl Norton was selected by the board of governors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education April 5, 2012, to serve as the 16th president of Slippery Rock University. She was the first woman in the University’s history to be named to lead the institution. An accomplished scholar and educator; Norton earner her bachelor’s degree from Denison University and three degrees from Columbia University; a master of arts in applied physiology; a master of education and a doctorate of education in applied physiology. Norton stepped down as president of Slippery Rock University in 2017.
