This collection consists of different materials such as game programs, schedules, photos, memorabilia, publications and audio-visual materials from Stringer's career as headcoach of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, Iowa State University, and Rutgers University.

Biographical / Historical

C. Vivian Stringer is an alumnus of Slippery Rock State College. She was the head coach of Cheyney University of Pennsylvania 1971-1983, the head coach of the University of Iowa 1983-1995, and the head coach of Rutgers University 1995-2022. After 50 years of coaching, Vivian Stringer retires in September of 2022. During her career, she received numerous awards and titles. She was named the National coach of the year three times, Wade trophy in 1982, Converse in 1988 and Naismith in 1993. She was named Coach of the Year by Sports Illustrated, USA Today, Converse, The Los Angeles Times, and the Black Coaches Association in 1993. She was the Female Coach of the Year by Rainbow / PUSH Organization in 2000. She also received the Carol Eckman Award in 1993. Along with Awards she was inducted into many Halls of Fame, such as the New Jersey Sports Hall of Fame and the Sport in Society Hall of Fame in 2005, and in 2006 she entered the University of Iowa Athletics Hall of Fame, and the International Women's Sports Hall of Fame in 2006.

Good. Newspaper clippings need separated due to acidity.
