Scope and Contents

The Audio Visual series consists of materials used by Dr. David Taylor when presenting planetarium shows in the Rocket Room Planetarium.

The condition of audio quality is unknown.

The News Releases series consists of 27 news and announcements from the planetarium. An understanding of the planetarium show schedule can be acquired from this series.

Biographical / Historical

The materials found in the Audio Visual series was discovered by the Facilities and Planning Department during renovation of Vincent Science Hall.

Professor Emeritus Dr. David Taylor organized and presented planetarium shows in the prior Rocket Room Planetarium. He was contacted regarding this material and verified that he used it for audio visual purposes when he presented shows in the planetarium.

The Slippery Rock University Archives acquired the collection in July, 2008.

Arrangement

This collection is divided into two series: News Releases and Audio Visual.

All 16 audio visual materials are offsite. Within the audio visual series are 4 reels (8 mm) and 12 audio tapes (either 5 in or 7.5 in).

News Releases are arranged chronologically and can be found in 20-9 in a folder titled "School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Planetarium".
