Biographical / Historical
Collection of football memorabilia and material relating to Robert (Bob) DiSpirito Sr., former longtime football coach and retired professor of Parks and Recreation/Environmental Education.
Bob was a Division II football coach and helped Slippery Rock win 3 state championships and over 100 games. He was head coach from 1968 until 1980. He continued to teach at Slippery Rock and came back to coach for the year of 1987.
He contributed greatly to the Physical Education Department and helped develop the Recreation Department where he aided in the planning of the Aebersold Student Recreation Center. Additionally he helped develop the Newman Center.
DiSpirito collected these materials and the first part of this collection was recieved on June 25, 2007. Subsequent accessions were recieved in July 23, 2007 and September 2009.
