Scope and Contents
The Scott Melville Collection contains numerous volumes of poetry published by Scott Melville between 2013 and 2024. Other contents include framed egg tempera paintings, and a framed poem titled "Pitched Battle," by Melville. With the framed items, there can also be found a biography and portrait of Dr. Scott Melville.

Biographical / Historical
Scott Melville, born in Saegertown, Pennsylvania, is a Slippery Rock State College (SRSC) alumnus. Melville earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at SRSC in Physical Education in 1969 and 1971, respectively. He then earned his PhD in Physical Education from the University of Iowa in 1975.
Melville taught at Eastern Washington University from 1980 until his retirement in 2012. A skilled artist, he began painting, writing, and publishing his poetry in retirement.
