S R Sta-te-Col (30-P-19), Slippery Rock State Teachers College, monthly literary journal, 1930-1931. “Due to unforeseen circumstances, it was necessary for the Press Club to discontinue the publication of the Slippery Rocket. In its stead the club offers for the college’s approval a monthly sixteen page journal, to contain essays, articles, news, features, society and club notes, and campus chatter. Through the efforts of the administration this journal has been made possible, as will future work on the Slippery Rocket, which, happily, will be rejuvenated next year.” V.1 no.1. Also included is an article on the selection of the title Sta-te-Col.

“Some people have the mistaken idea that the present student publication, namely the Sta-Te-Col, is a newspaper, and that it is failing in its duty to supply the college with news. May we correct this fallacy? The Sta-Te-Col is a monthly literary journal, designed to bring to the college the best literary efforts of the students, both in prose and poetry.” V. 1 no. 6 NOTE: v. 1 no. 8 (May 1931) has an article by Anne Morrow. Is this the Anne Morrow (Lindbergh)? She did not attend SRU.
