Biography

Ettore (Steve) Gagliardo received his bachelor’s degree in Education from Slippery Rock State College in 1969. He returned in 1972 as the assistant director of housing, and quickly became the director of housing, working in that capacity for 29 years.

Gagliardo was the president of the faculty union (APSCUF) when Slippery Rock changed from a college to a university. He was Slippery Rock’s director of veterans’ affairs during the Vietnam War. He also served on the Co-op Board and held the union seat on the cricket committee. Gagliardo recounts some lively tales about student life at The Rock, including parties on Kiester Road and the dorms going co-ed.
