Hannon, Thomas, 1936-2015
Biography
Dr. Thomas Hannon (1936-2015) was hired in 1970 and served as a professor in the Department of Geography, Geology and the Environment, retiring in 2004. He became the curriculum director for the Institute for Learning in Retirement, spending his free time researching cemeteries and cemetery landscape. While working at SRU, Hannon was the advisor of the geography honorary Gamma Theta Upsilon and the sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma. He was also the chair of the university promotion committee and an organizer for overseas summer programs.
Hannon received two Fulbright grants for research travel in Europe and taught on exchange at Trinity College, Dublin, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh as well as in Salzburg, Austria and Seoul, Korea.
