Hicks, John
Biography
Dr. John Hicks retired from Slippery Rock’s Department of Education in 2002 after 29 years of service. He then served on the Board of Trustees and on the Sports Hall of Fame board of directors. Hicks worked as assistant to the dean of education and was twice appointed as the interim dean of the College of Education.
An Army veteran, Hicks graduated from Slippery Rock in 1962. As an undergraduate, he worked as a student assistant to the dean of men. He met his wife Judy, a Rocklette, here. Hicks was very active in education, serving as a member of the Association of Teacher Educators and on the board of American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. One of his proudest accomplishments was his role in the foundation of the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators.
