Included are several manuscript drafts, a galley proof, hand-written drafts in Chinese, and other contents relating to the writing of Cheng's memoir, Life and Death in Shanghai. In the drafts, hand-written annotations, presumably from Nien Cheng and copy editors, can be found.

Access to the collection requires an advanced appointment. Many of the contents in Series 8: Audiovisual Materials were professionally created by other organizations and under copyright, or may be still undergoing digitization efforts. Materials Specific Details

Includes front matter, parts I, II, III, and the epilogue of Life and Death in Shanghai. Folder titles were kept consistent with chapter or part indications written on the manuscripts.

This draft is a printed draft of the proof and includes hand-written annotations that are not consistent with Nien Cheng's handwriting samples. It is assumed the notes were created by an editor.
