Abstract

Joseph Howard Riggs (1928- ) taught at Slippery Rock University from 1971 to 1989. He retired from the Communication Department, having taught previously in the Speech Department. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Riggs taught at Memphis State University from 1955 to 1970. He has been an author, scholar, archivist, radio and television interviewer, union member, oral historian, human rights activist and leader of several organizations.

This collection consists of various items of memorabilia including t-shirts, photographs, and even audiovisual material all relating to Slippery Rock University accumulated by Mark Chase, former SRU faculty member.

Scope and Contents The Michael Changnon Collection consists of various papers, records, and correspondence illustrating Changnon’s career as an artist and Slippery Rock University art professor. The collection also consists of photographs depicting his artwork and some memorable moments during his tenure. Other items include various memorabilia from art exhibits in which Changnon participated, textiles, and a DVD of the Michael Changnon Tribute Exhibit in 2005.
